Vantor Trade sells industrial supplies to business buyers across 12 markets in the Asia-Pacific region. Their existing storefront was a single-market platform stretched well past its original design to cover a catalogue of 90,000 SKUs and market-specific pricing it was never built for.
The Challenge
Every new market meant another layer of workarounds bolted onto the same codebase. Pricing rules that varied by market, currency and customer tier lived in a tangle of manual overrides, and the quote-to-order workflow that large B2B buyers expected simply didn’t exist. Page load times were degrading as the catalogue grew, directly hurting conversion on high-intent product pages.
The Approach
We replatformed onto a composable commerce architecture with per-market pricing rules built in as a first-class feature rather than a workaround, and added a proper quote-to-order workflow so sales teams could manage large B2B deals without leaving the platform. Search and catalogue browsing moved to a dedicated search infrastructure sized for 90,000 SKUs, which is where most of the performance gain came from.
The Results
Revenue per visit increased 2.4x following launch, largely from faster page loads and pricing that finally matched what business buyers were actually being quoted. Largest Contentful Paint at the 75th percentile came down to 0.9 seconds, and Vantor has since added three additional markets on the same platform without repeating the original scaling problem.
